Aidija

"Singing in the choir has become a way of life for many of the members" said Romualdas Grazinis, the musical director.

The Aidija Chamber Choir was formed in the autumn of 1989 in the Vilnius M.K.Ciurlionis Art's Gymnasium on the initiative of Romualdas Grazinis.

The Choir consists of 28 members aged 18-26. The majority of them are graduates or students of M.K.Ciurlionis Art's Gymnasium, and Lithuanian Music Academy’s faculties of choir conducting and singing.

The Aidija choir leads an intensive concert life in Lithuania and abroad. On average Aidija presents 40 concerts per annum. Choir’s repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant to contemporary music, from a capella miniatures to big form compositions. In recent years Aidija gave concerts in a number of international festivals. They scored success by winning first prizes in choral competitions in England (1992) and Wales (1994).

Aidija has given highly acclaimed concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra of Lithuania, The St.Christophorus Orchestra, The Baroque Orchestra “Musica Humana”, Frankfurt Symphony Orchestra. Besides concerts the choir has made many recordings. Lithuanian TV broadcasted two documentaries about Aidija.
